Located on the West end of downtown Bloomington’s Entertainment and Arts District, Fourth and Rogers (FAR) is walkable to bars, restaurants, and hotels. Out-of-town guests won’t have to worry about driving, parking, or Ubering.
Home to Pictura Gallery, the modern gallery space features rotating exhibits of contemporary photography. Built in 1925 and listed on the National Registery of Historic Places, FAR incorporates contemporary features with much of the original brick, steel bow trusses, and wooden ceilings. Technically, Sarah and Patrick first met in 2012 at Sarah’s birthday party
(costumed, animal-themed): Patrick was a cat and Sarah was a bear-dog.
Though there is pictorial evidence of this initial meeting, they spent the
evening completely oblivious to one another.
Undeterred, the universe reintroduced them in 2016 at another costume party (Halloween) inside the ruin of an 18th century Queen Anne-style mansion. Patrick was again dressed as a cat. And while they spent the entire night talking on the stone porte-cochere, the timing was still not right. They added each other on Facebook, missed the obvious joke about animal attraction, and went their separate ways.
Thankfully, the universe knows the luck of threes. So, finally, in 2017—like a sudden flight of starlings bursting backwards into the sky—they fell in love. Within months, Patrick completed his PhD, accepted a professorship in Missouri, and they moved to the Ozarks together.
Ten years (and numerous indie video games, Detroit factories, horror movie marathons, Chicago gallery openings, hams, karaoke nights, hikes along the Potomac, and—yes—costume parties) later, they’re thrilled to celebrate their wedding with you. I mean, it’s about time.
